You guys know I love the divas. We have lost so many so I have to support the remaining ladies left.
Chaka Khan the one and only with the sultry voice and legendary talent was on Wendy Williams. Chaka Khan talks about her dramatic recent weight loss and her upcoming projects.
Let me tell you Chaka Khan is a seasoned doll and when she hits that stage she is looking fierce with her new body!
Wendy Williams breaks down crying with the Diva. I love Wendy but for someone who was such a badass shock jock Ms. Thing will cry at the drop of a hat...lol.
WTH is going on with folks using these bath salts?
These are not your mothers soaking beaty bath salts nor will you find these at any Bed Bath & Beyond store. These bath salts are a synthetic drug which is seeing an increase of users in the United States. These salts are an inexpensive form of super-charged speed.
Authorities say the drug produces an "excited delirium" where users are violent, paranoid and act unpredictablly.
We have all heard the sensational head lines of people eating and attacking folks while high on this drug. One woman peed on a million dollar painting while another man actually attacked, killed and partially ate a dog. I am a pet lover so the last story is really messed up!
WTH is going on with folks?
How bored and stupid can you be to ingest something that reduces you to a "Walking Dead" flesh eating, growling, paranoid, menace?
I am just glad this stuff was not around during the big days of the gay T-dances. Instead of a crowded dance floor of hunky guys bouncing around with water bottles, dialated pupils, grinding their teeth and hugging each other you would have a bunch of rabid queens barking, growling and trying to eat each other and not in a good way.
The new Ridley Scott film, Prometheus, is set in the late 21st century and centers on the crew of the spaceship Prometheus as they follow a star map discovered among the remnants of several ancient Earth civilizations. They are then led to a distant world and an advanced civilization where the crew seeks the origins of humanity, but instead discovers a threat that could cause the extinction of the human race. Partially inspired by Erich von Däniken’s literature Chariot of the Gods? which involves the hypothesis that the religions and technologies of many ancient civilizations were given to them by ancient astronauts who were in many instances considered and welcomed as gods. Some writers such as Däniken have suggested that intelligent Alien life has existed in the solar system and throughout the universe has visited Earth in antiquity and has made contact with humans. Such visitors are called ancient astronauts or ancient aliens. Advocates suggest that this contact influenced the development of human cultures, technologies and religions. A common variation of the idea is that a speculative being or deity from most, if not all, religions are actually extraterrestrials, and their advanced technologies were wrongly understood by primitive men as evidence of their divine status. Speculative beings or Deities are depicted in a variety of forms, but are also frequently expressed as having human form. They are usually depicted as immortal and are commonly assumed to have personalities and to possess consciousness, intellects, desires, and emotions similar to those of humans. They may be thought to be the authorities or controllers of various aspects of human life. Some beings are asserted to be the directors of time and fate itself, to be the givers of human law and morality, to be the ultimate judges of human worth and behavior, and to be the designers and creators of the Earth or the universe.
My fellow blogger Queen did such a good job on this review that I wanted to share. I saw the film but she compares it to the literature very well. She also gives a very strong review.
" I want you to find my babies daddy so I can tell him that I may have also slept with his brother, father and second cousin depending on the test results"
I just like coming up with crazy show ideas but the sad thing is that they are usually not that far fromt he real ones...lol
The incredibly talented and iconic star Cher has her sights on broadway. The singer, actress has earned multiple awards including an Oscar, Grammy, Emmy, Golden-Globe and she may have her sights on a Tony.
Cher is in the pre-production phase of writing and producing a musical based on her life and career that she hopes will be broadway bound.
The musical will include many hits from Cher's long and successful musical career.
Cher has always had a strong fan base among the gay children.
We love a Diva!
She seems very excited about this new project and this will definitely keep her busy.
I think she definitely needs a project since her farewell tour that lasted for over 5 years....lol.
If Cher is involved then this broadway musical will surely be a crowd pleaser.
There is no release date as of yet but when ever it hits the stage you know there will be a crowd of gay folks and Cher impersonators in the audience...smile
Today marks the three year anniversary of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson's death. The legendary and iconic singer and performer, Michael Jackson was 50 when he died.
I, like so many other fans grew up listeing to Michael Jackson and his music has become a backdrop for the soundtrack of our lives. Although his is gone he will never be equalled in what he accomplished and contributed to music and the world.
I think I still have a Thriller jacket on lay away from back in the day...lol
Scream is one of my favorite songs he does with sister Janet Jackson.
Eight young men testified about abuse ranging from kissing and massages to groping, oral sex and anal rape. Some of the most damaging testimony probabally came from a university janitor and then-graduate assistant Mike McQueary, whose account of a sexual encounter between Sandusky and a 10 year old boy.
Jerry Sandusky is finally convicted but it seems there was a institutional cover up that led to Sandusky's ability to target and molest boys for so many years. He actually started a non-profit for at-risk youth during the 1970's that gave him un-checked access to young vulnerable boys with little support.
We are all familiar with the phrase, “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.” Well, there is one group of gay guys who are taking that expression to a whole new level.
These guys are more than interested; they are threatening to sue. MIAKA members feel their rejection by the sorority amounts to discrimination based on sexual orientation.
Come on, guys, the AKAs aren’t denying you membership because of your sexual orientation; they are denying you membership because you pee standing up (well, at least some of you probably do…smile). You are men trying to gain access to an organization established for women. They don’t allow men, period...straight, gay, bi-sexual or asexual.
This Greek gender-bending is not a new phenomenon. The children have been imitating sororities for years, although it has historically been underground. The first time I saw this was during my undergrad years when I was attending a small HBCU in Austin, Texas. Back in the day, HBCUs were not exactly accepting of gay folks, so much of the culture was done discreetly or out at the clubs.
I remember going to one club and seeing a group of guys wearing pink and green, stepping, throwing the AKA sign and “skee weeing” all over the place. This was not a drag show; these guys really thought they were AKAs.
According to KollegeKid.com, MIAKA formed unofficial chapters at both Texas Southern University and Prairie View A & M. Members have been seen wearing AKA colors, throwing up their pinkies and making the AKA “skee-wee” sound.
When did the underground culture become so bold? These guys are walking around campus wearing AKA colors and even holding probate shows? I am surprised there has not been a Basketball Wives-inspired Pink and Green gay boys vs. AKA smack down slap fest!
I have seen fights break out just for walking on rival plots on campus or sitting on a bench when you are not a member. So what do you think would happen if some real AKAs saw anyone -- gay, straight, male or female -- trying to rep something they are not?
Before you other Greek folks get too comfortable, there are similar groups that shadow other sororities and even lesbian groups that pattern themselves after the fraternity Alpha Phi Alpha.
I queried some of my many family members and friends who earned Greek letters, and most see the hijacking of their organizations as disrespectful.
Is this threatened MIAKA lawsuit really about discriminatory practices, or are the AKAs simply trying to uphold traditions and legacies?
A well-respected educator, Mable McLean, president emeritus of Barber-Scotia College, recently passed away, and I attended the service held on campus to honor her memory. I had never witnessed the AKA’s “Ivy Beyond the Wall” ceremony,” and I was truly moved when I saw all of these mostly seasoned divas dressed in white singing and honoring their dear departed sorority sister.
In this day and age of fast food, reality TV stars and disposable culture, it’s nice to know that there are some things that are consistent and steeped in tradition.
I am not Greek, but I know that these organizations offer much more than step shows, throwing signs and wearing colors. Members are given a unique opportunity to enjoy true sisterhood and brotherhood and a commitment to community.
Maybe it would be more progressive if MIAKA members joined established gay Greek organizations like Delta Phi Upsilon or Delta Lambda Phi, and build, design and support your own rituals, ceremonies and traditions rather than biting off the work of other established groups.
Mike Tyson, boxer legend, appeared this morning on The Today Show with filmmaker Spike Lee, who will direct a one man show on broadway starring the boxing champ.
The interview was pretty much standard until the host Ann Curry asked a pretty much benign question about why Mike Tyson became a vegan.
No one was prepared for the bizarre rambling response from Tyson. Tyson responded "that he threw up the white flag: Too many prison cells, too many lawsuits, too many bankruptcies, too many venereal diseases and because "I was a prostitute hunter."
Maybe there will be movie version of this part of his life. Hey if they can make a film calledAbraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter then surely Mike Tyson: Prostitute Hunter might be a box office hit...lol.
Venereal diseases and hunting prostitutes now those are really great morning television topics...lol. It could have been worse, he could have had a live flash back on the Today Show and tried to bite Spike's ear off...lol.
You can see Spike Lee nervously trying to bring the boxing champ back to center.
Maybe the one man show should be renamed Mike Tyson: Ramblings of a prostitute hunter...lol.
