Jason Collins provides young black gay men much-needed role model.

The NBA player made history last week when he came out of the closet.  

Hey guys check out my latest column for Creative Loafing.  This brother has made history by becoming one of the first active players in a major league sports team to come out as gay. 

He is such a historical figure on so many levels.  This  is major for sports, the LGBT community  but just as important for the African-American community since being gay still carries a very negative stigma.

This brother is definitely a major role model!

Charles Easley Is New Columnist With Creative Loafing

"When one door closes another one opens" well that has definitely been the case for me. 

I am a new columnist for Creative Loafing!

When I was laid off in September I became very focused about expanding my brand and deciding what I would do with this new chapter of my life.

I got an email from one of the editors at Creative Loafing and she said they had been following my work on Q City Metro and wanted to meet with me about a possible partnership. 

I was elated so I scheduled a meeting and it went very well. I submitted several ideas and she chose one that she felt would be the most compelling. 

It will take some getting used to a new editor and their style but I am excited about my new partnership with Creative Loafing.
