This weekend was the opening for the long awaited "The Avengers" movie. "The Avengers" enjoyed a debut of $200.3 million domestically.
I have not been this excited about a film since the X-Men series! I got up early Sunday morning and caught the first show at 10:00 AM. I missed a few of the previews which really pisses me off due to a very slow concession clerk.
Armed with my popcorn, soda and smuggled milk duds I took my place in a strategic spot for maximum viewing pleasure. The crowd was decent but not overcrowded.
"The Avengers" film brings the team together including Hulk, Iron Man, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Captain America and my personal favorite Thor.
Loki has teamed with an alien race and seeks to bring a war to Earth. The Avengers all join forces to defeat Loki, the master of lies and sorceror supreme. While we are on the subject if he is suppose to be a supreme sorceror can we see some other tricks other than his duplicating himself or holograms? I am just saying.
This film does not disappoint. The action in the film is as one of my students Sakatos would exclaim, epoch...lol. Samuel Jackson is perfect as the surly Nick Fury of Shield.
The Black Widow kicks butt in this film, what she lacks in super powers she more than makes up for in inhuman fierce fighting skills. Iron Man is his old wise cracking maverick self with some updated armor. Captain America seems to be more comfortable in his skin and has some very cool moments. My favorite is Thor who gets to really cut loose and unleash his god like wrath in some very electrifying scenes. Disappointingly Thor has his shirt on for the entire film...lol
The film balances crazy action scenes, emotionally tearful moments and hilarious comic releif.
My best moments are with the Hulk. Hulk has evolved as a character as he is now able to Hulk up at will and still maintain his Banner personna. The funniest moment in the film is when Loki is going off on a rant about his god like status to the Hulk and the Hulk just body slams him over and over the howling laughter of the audience.
I did enter this film with attitude that my other original Avengers' characters were not present like Ant Man, Wasp, Vision and my girl The Scarlett Witch. Hopefully we will see some of them in the inevitable sequels to come.
Sit back relax, enjoy the action and watch Hulk Smash in" The Avengers!"
Let's also give a big shout out to my writing superhero, Joss Weedon, for his part in making this film. I'm not a huge epic superhero movie watcher, but if HIS name is on it? I will see it :)
