Elmo Puppeteer in Alleged Sex Scandal

No the scandal is not with Elmo you freaks. It seems "Sesame Street" which is known for its historical commitment to children’s programming has been a hot bed of media attention these days.

Well move over Big Bird your 15 minutes are up!  There is a new character Elmo who is now in the hot seat or at least the man who brings him to life is in hot water. 

Holy Muppet Scandals Batman!

Kevin Clash the puppeteer responsible for one of Sesame Street’s most beloved characters Elmo is facing allegations that he had a sexual relationship with a sixteen year old boy.

Clash admits that he had a relationship with the guy but claims he was of legal age. 

In statement made directly to NBC News, Clash confirmed that he is homosexual but denied any allegations of an inappropriate relationship.

The thing I hate about this scenario is that the public forums are already making references to Clash being gay and an alleged pedophile.  This is such a common misnomer in the LGBT community becasue research will support most pedophiles are heterosexual. 

The LGBT community will however support the rumors of Bert and Ernie being gay life partners....smile. 

Clash does not deny being gay when he shared, “I am a gay man. I have never been ashamed of this or tried to hide it, but felt it was a personal and private matter. I had a relationship with the accuser. It was between two consenting adults and I am deeply saddened that he is trying to characterize it as something other than what it was. I am taking a break from Sesame Workshop to deal with this false and defamatory allegation.”

The folks at Sesame Street are standing behind the man who is behind Elmo.  Representatives shared this statement, “We took the allegation very seriously and took immediate action. We met with the accuser twice and had repeated communications with him. We met with Kevin, who denied the accusation. We also conducted a thorough investigation and found the allegation of underage conduct to be unsubstantiated.”

We have to let the legal system work things out but I think this guy got caught up with some young trade that is trying to cash in on Clash’s fame.  The truth will eventually come out. 

All I know is the phrase "Tickle Me Elmo" just took on a nefarious tone...LOL.

Well if Sesame Street characters keep ending up in the tabloids, Sesame Street may have to change its address to the corner of controversy lane and scandal road….LOL
