Hey guys I saw this film but my friend and writing colleague Queen did such a wonderful critique I wanted to share it.
With the backdrop of what was to be South Carolina, Beautiful Creatures, the 2013 film adapted very, very loosely from the young reader novel of the same name, was anything close to beautiful and was filmed in and around New Orleans. The cinematography was handled well by Philippe Rousselot, but the adaptation by screenwriter turned director Richard LaGravenese was less than stellar; actually it was done right awful. I love a good adaptation from the original literature; unfortunately, this film’s script was nothing like the book, published in 2009, which was written well by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl and was and the first book in the Caster Chronicles series.
