We have a new victim of the “pray the gay away” propaganda machine. Some poor fool’s video has gone viral after declaring he has been cured in a come to Jesus, summer revival, Pentecostal display of and I use the term lightly “rediscovered heterosexuality” (Insert side eye).
Old boy is heard yelling, ““I’m not gay anymore. I’m delivered,” he said. “I don’t like mens anymore. I said I like women. Women, women, women….”
Boy please! Maybe if you keep chanting that you might still believe it but I am not convinced. Maybe it is the over the top antics…maybe it’s the fact that you found a paisley Liberace jacket in 2014 or maybe it was your next statement:
“I would not date a man,” the man continues. “I would not carry a purse. I would not put on makeup. I will love a woman.”
And if you were doing all that you were not just gay you were a drag queen.
I am so over folks thinking you should pray the gay away. You are gay you do not have cancer get over it and embrace who you are and walk in your own truth.
The main character,Chozen, uses his "man on man" experiences while in prison to shape his artistry. His lyrics challenge stereotypes, hyper-masculine personas and misogyny that is synonymous with the world of Hip Hop.
SNL's Bobby Moynihan is set to star in the series as Chozen, the lead character of the show with his nemesis Phantasm being voiced by legendary rapper, Method Man.
I must agree, if folks want to hate on an animated series, which by the way is funny as hell, they should hate on something much more damaging like a decade of the BET awards.
Although the show challenges the hyper-machismo persona of many male rappers it still shies away from the reality of possible Black gay rap artist. But real talk, we have to know that some folks are on the DL when it comes to their sexuality and interest.
The show at least creates an opportunity to challenge conventional norms in a very entertaining manner. The characters in the show are all hilarious.
"Chozen" is like a gay, white, rapper version of "The Boondocks." LOL
The last episode I saw was when Chozen was attending a campus LGBT meeting and gave props to a fierce transgender student and in his words "Respect for you mad tuck skills."
Rapper, mogul and entrepreneur Curtis Jackson, a.k.a. 50 Cent will mentor a transgender teen in an upcoming six part reality show series called "Dream School" which will appear on the Sundance Channel. WTH?
The show will highlight a program where youth who have dropped out can find a place to turn their lives around.
Now 50 Cent has come under fire for being historically homophobic which he denies.
There was some beef back in the day with Kanye where he all but called Kanye out as being gay.
50 Cent had a song 'Heartless Monster' that had some pretty homophobic lyrics:
"Niggas from the hood ain't supposed to wear no retro shit/I'm-a
tell my lil' niggas to start kickin' ya fuckin' ass/See ya out there wit that
funny shit on/Look him he's a faggot/Kick him/ Kick his fuckin' ass".
Not only does that sound homophobic but it also promotes violence against LGBT folks.
50 Cent also caught heat about three years ago when he tweeted three years ago, a hateful statement about the tragic suicide of gay teen Tyler Clementi, who jumped to his death from a bridge after he was outed, stating:
If you a man and your over 25 and you don’t eat pussy just kill your self damn it. The world will be a better place. Lol.
50 Cent has also admitted publicly that his mother before she died had same sex relationships so maybe he is a bit homophobic because he may thinks it is hitting to close to home.
"Niggas
from the hood ain't supposed to wear no retro shit/I'm-a tell my lil'
niggas to start kickin' ya fuckin' ass/See ya out there wit that funny
shit on/Look him he's a faggot/Kick him/ Kick his fuckin' ass". Read more at http://www.nme.com/news/kanye-west/42341#Py4OG2QC1kQR5olT.99

I have seen 50 Cent on Oprah recently and I was very impressed with how spiritual this dude has become as he has matured and evolved. He seems to be trying to distance himself somewhat from the gangster, thug personna that made him rap royalty.
50 Cent denies being homophobic and explains his position: “I don’t have homophobia. I never did,” Jackson told The Wrap. “When you
actually make music that mirrors the environment, you use the
terminology,” he said. “You use the language. Like if you were making a
painting, and you were painting the American flag, if I told you to do
that, and not use red, not use the harsh terms or the tougher messages,
you would never successfully paint the flag.”
I have always said that as an artist and celebrity you have automony to express yourself any way you want but because you have such a high profile, you cannot cry foul when folks hold you accountable to what you say and do.
It's that same old crap about athletes and rappers claiming I am not a role model but you sale your brand and collateral marketing based on your profile. You cannot sale $200.00 sneakers and then say young folks should not pay attention to what you do and say.
I am not sure where 50 Cent's mind is these days but I need him to pick a character. Mentor to LGBT youth or ganster mysogynistic, homophobic rapper.
It will be interesting to see how 50 Cent mentors and interacts with the transgendered youth, Alan.
We have watched Raven Symone grow up from the adorable cute girl from The Cosby Show to being the Disney media darling of her own series That's So Raven.
Raven Symone has managed to avoid the usual trappings of being a childhood star by effectively reinventing herself. She seems to have added one more side to her diverse profile, apparently she is gay.
I personally have not heard of any gay rumors about Ms. Symone but they have allegedly been circling for sometime.
Well Raven put the rumor mill to bed by confirming her sexuality in a recent tweet on Twitter, ""I can finally get married."
Raven followed up with E! News when she shared, ""I am very happy that gay marriage is opening up around the country and
is being accepted. I was excited to hear today that more states
legalized gay marriage. I, however am not currently getting married, but
it is great to know I can now, should I wish to."
This is pretty cool. We are accustomed to mainstream stars coming out but it is very encouraging when African-American famous folks decide to share their sexuality. The more this happens the less of an issue it will become within the African-American community.
Raven Symone thank you for stepping out and representing in a big way!
My life recently has been in constant flux and transition. I was laid
off from my job of 12 years, and my partner and I, after almost 20
years together, made the mutual decision to split up.
Because of these changes, I find myself simultaneously excited and
vulnerable in this new space. Historically, when I find myself in flux, I
will commune with God and seek his infinite wisdom. But due to the
severity of these conditions, I needed something extra, like a safe
church to land and feed my spirit.
I have shared that I grew up in the church, but at some point when
you are trying to reconcile both your sexuality and faith, there are
many religious environments that not only make this difficult but near
impossible. So like many folks in similar situations, I made the
somewhat traumatic decision to leave organized religion. And just so
that I am clear, I said organized religion, not God, for he has been my
constant companion.
I have attended mainstream LGBT churches, and while I applaud their
efforts, there was still something missing. When you grow up in a
Southern Baptist environment, there is a certain feeling you get from
worship service that cannot be replaced with simple ritual and rhetoric.
In short, I need to hear a choir with a fierce soloist, an organ, a
piano and folks who holler out their joy (speaking in tongues and laying
of hands optional), all so I can seriously get my praise on….lol.
But back to my Sunday service adventure.
Second service was scheduled to start at 12:30, but Shannise assured
me that folks would be on CP time and that it might not start until 1
p.m. It was a rainy morning, so CP time really pushed service to start
at 1:30.
I was a bit nervous, I have to admit, but I immediately felt at ease
as we entered the sanctuary. Most folks were dressed casually, and
everyone had a pleasant and welcoming demeanor. I was also pleasantly
surprised to see so many gay and lesbian folks among the congregation.
Both choirs that morning showed up and showed out. As we approach
Mother’s Day, I have to confess that since I lost my mom, I have been a
little scared to enter a church because, as much as I felt I needed some
spiritual healing, I was afraid that the environment would unleash
emotions that, once tapped, would be impossible to stop. I did almost
lose it when the choir began to sing Tamela Mann’s “Take Me to The
King.” But instead of deep sorrow, I felt an overwhelming feeling of
calm.
Kee’s ministry is not only inspirational, it is affirming. The fact
that his church is among a community that the city would like to ignore
is more than admirable, but he also preaches financial autonomy and
leads by example. New Life Fellowship has been able to build and grow
not by traditional means and bank loans but by partnering with the
community and his congregation.
What I experienced on Sunday is what I believe a church and its
ideology should be about, and that is serving and supporting your fellow
man without judgment or condemnation. This was a church that welcomed
everyone, regardless of socio-economic background, education, pedigree
or sexuality.
I have always been amazed by Christians who will quote scripture and
text to highlight your so-called sins, not remembering that we all fall
short of God’s grace, but offer very little in support. If you are so
righteous in your beliefs, would you not want to share them with others?
Even in this column I have been demonized because of my sexuality and
have had countless scripture quoted to me, but other than maybe one
reader, no one has ever invited me to join them for Sunday service to
experience.
What I experienced at New Life Fellowship was a reminder of what true
Christian values should be -- inclusion, support, love and God’s
infinite power and grace. Thank you for the message, the spiritual
healing and a renewed faith in organized religion.
Here we go again! We have yet another ex-gay patriot, "How you doing?" Donny McClurkin...smile.
Apparently Antoine Dodson is extending his fifteen minutes of celebrity fame, not by calling out all local rapist in the neighborhood, but this time for renouncing his homosexual ways.
I think I might need a tylenol.
True to form Dodson who became famous via social media and You Tube has taken to Facebook again to renounce his sexuality because he is a "True Chosen Hebrew Israelite descendant of Judah,"and is "no longer into homosexuality" and now wants a wife.
Grab your sisters, nieces, girlfriends, aunts, mothers and grandmothers because Dodson is looking for a wife, Lord help us!
He is "no longer into homosexuality" as if sexuality were a boy band fad. He also wants to have a wife, for what photo ops?
Dodson recenlty joined HuffPost Live host Alicia Menendez to explain the switch:
"It's not praying the gay away because it can be lifted," Dodson told
Menendez. "If you really want to change your life, and just get rid of
it, then you can. And that's what I'm doing. I'm not saying I don't
have the memories of my past, because I do, and I see it everyday in my
mind. But I'm trying to move away from that and become a better person.
That's all."
Dodson went on to share that he has always been attracted to the "art of a woman" but that he
mistakenly "tried to actually be that instead of being with that,"
describing his gay days as "dumb."
The "art of a woman" you are not trying to sleep with the Mona Lisa you really think you are going to be able to consummate a sexual relationship with some woman in her right mind? And if you think your gay days were dumb what is your opinion about co-signing your Halloween costume?
You can find religion and God without thinking you have to be someone you are not. I swear I am so over these folks thinking they can change their nature. In almost the majority of cases your sexuality is as innate as you being black, having green eyes or sickle cell it is purely genetic people!
You guys check out the video and tell me what you think but to quote "Paris is Burning" he may not be gay "But he still has that voice,".....lol.
You can also check out more information about the film, filmmakers, characters and support the film through donations on the site www.onedayinjunethemovie.com.
This is one of the first character trailers for the main character Russ. We will preview various trailers as part of our drip campaign to promote the film..
I hope you enjoy the trailer as much as I enjoyed putting it together....smile.
Professional sports which is one of the last sacred environments of hyper masculinity, so it is no surprise that issues of sexuality would still be taboo.
One NFL free agent Kerry Rhodes has been fighting rumors of his being gay due to photos that have been circulating by www.mediatakeout.com.
Rhodes released a statement to TMZ, "“Photos have been circulating of my former assistant and I that
have caused some rumors regarding my sεxuality, and I wanted to address
the situation. I am not gay.” Rhodes went on to explain the origin of the photographs, “The shots were taken during a past vacation in a casual environment with my entire business team.”
Yes I have many photos of my boss carrying me during one of our management retreats.....lol.
Rhodes who is fine as hell denies being gay, however, he does support other gay athletes in their struggle for acceptance. “I know a lot of people are recently talking about athletes
struggling to come out to their fans right now, and I support them, as
well as wish those individuals comfort.”
The topic of gay athletes is an ongoing issue and one that could in the near future potentially turn into a much larger platform of exploration.
Ex-Baltimore Ravens and gay rights supporter Brendon Ayanbadejo is expanding the dialogue in a big way. He
announced that four NFL players are considering outing their sεxuality
soon. “We’re in talks with a handful of players who are considering
it. There are up to four players being talked to right now, and they’re
trying to be organized so they can come out on the same day together. It
would make a major splash and take the pressure off one guy. It would
be a monumental day if a handful or a few guys come out.”
Can you imagine if four hunky NFL players come out on the same day. Such an event would be a major advancement in LGBT rights and identity. Four NFL players coming out on the same day would definitely force professional sports environments to deal with issues of sexuality among their players in a major way.
This will give the gay anthem "It's Raining Men" a whole new meaning....lol
I came across a story that immediately caught my attention because it happened in Texas, my home state, and involved a gay teen.
Erica Moore, a suburban mom from Fort Worth, was checking on her kids
when she noticed that her 15-year-old son’s bedroom door was closed.
(We know this mom is old school because old-school moms don’t tolerate
closed doors.)
Moore walked in and found her son engaged in oral sex with her
18-year-old male cousin. She lost it and commenced to beating her son
with an electrical cord.
In an interview with AllChristianNews.com, Moore explained her
reaction: “When I walked in I saw my son, it was just disgusting to me,
the way he was looking and my cousin was looking, and my cousin
immediately ran out the door.”
Moore said she was “disgusted” by what she saw.
“They were committing a homosexual act in my house, and we are totally against that,” she said.
Moore, in her own words, was more repulsed by the idea of having a
gay son than she was by the fact that her son was having sex and
disrespecting her home.
I had a similar experience in my youth. I was playing fort with a
cousin -- I don’t remember what we were actually doing – when my mom
raised up the quilt and yanked me out of the fort. She slapped me across
the face and told me not to ever do that again. I distinctly remember
it was not so much disgust I saw in her eyes but absolute fear.
Years later, when I finally came out to my mother, we had another
talk. My mother shared that, since the day I was born, she knew how to
prepare me for a world that was not always so fair to black men. But
later, she said, her suspicions about my sexuality gave rise to new
concerns about how to prepare me for the world as a gay man, since she
had no point of reference.
My mom said she loved me unconditionally but worried that people would judge and even harm me due to my sexuality.
But back to our other Texas mom: Moore, because she whipped her son,
could be facing jail time. Several Christian groups are supporting her
actions.
The president of the Texas Southern Christian Leadership Conference
(TSCLC), the Rev. Kyev Tatum, wants the district attorney to drop all
charges against Moore.
“I have known Sister Erica for many years, and she did what we teach
every good God-fearing mother should do when their children disobey
their rules, values and standards,” he said in a statement. “Texas Penal
Code 9.61 gives her the legal rights and the Holy Bible gives her the
religious rights to discipline her child the best way she knows how.”
On one hand, I agree that families should have latitude to discipline
and raise their children, but is it fair to beat a child for being who
he is?
There were bigger issues the mother should have focused on. First,
this appears to be a case of incest between relatives. Second, her son
-- who was a minor -- technically was engaging in a sex act with an
adult.
What doesn't sit well with me is that this child was beaten because
he was gay. Would Moore have displayed the same outrage had it been a
girl-boy act?
As for those supporting her actions, when will the majority faith
community realize that, whether they like it or not, gay folks are
members of your congregations, families and communities.
The phrase “spare the rod, spoil the child,” although used in faith
environments, is not an actually Bible verse. Moore may have been guided
by the proverb, but in reaching for the rod she also may have done more
harm than good. The “disgust” she displayed toward her gay son may now
become his primary frame of reference.
I understand Moore’s fear, but I hope for her son’s sake that they
will have another discussion and she will accept and love him
unconditionally.
